The upcoming release of the much hyped Pokémon Sun and Moon game, along with the cast of new Pokémon, welcomes its very own tie-in anime series in November. We get to see the return of Ash Ketchum (Satoshi in the original Japanese version) and his best buddy Pikachu as he travels to the Alola islands to finally… go to school! That’s right! This class-ditching young hero must have been spotted by anime-child services and is finally going to be forced to study up. Maybe he has to learn how to do rudimentary algebra before travelling the rest of the world, who knows! Though, we suspect he will attend classes regularly as much as, say, the students in Naruto or Hogwarts actually do. Ash has his eye on graduation from the Alola school, as well as challenging the Melemele Island Guardian, Tapu Koko.Elements of the anime were revealed in the Japanese magazine CoroCoro Comic‘s October issue recently, showing some of the new creatures we’ll meet in the new series. All photos below from Twitter user pKjd.New characters! New Pokémon! New school! A Z-ring appears to power up Pikachu! We also get to see Rockruff’s evolution form, Lugarugan! So fluffy! The page mentions its form evolution form will change depending on whether it’s night or daytime. Above is its daytime transformation. Here is Lugarugan’s night evolution. Creepy AF.Two new Ultra Beasts introduced in the magazine are Expansion (the red beetle one), Beauty (pretty white bug lady), and a mysterious jellyfish with five questions marks for a name. Hmm!?!There are currently no announcements about the localization of Sun and Moon‘s anime to English-language. However, with the obvious popularity of Pokémon all of over the world right now, and the presence of the various Pokémon anime all over Cartoon Network, Netflix ,and Hulu, we’re sure it’s only a matter of time. The Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon games will be released in Japan and North America on November 18th, and in Europe on November 23 or this year, with the anime slated to be released at about the same time.
