The story starts: Infamously, during the 1997-98 season, Rodman told head coach Phil Jackson he needed a “vacation” from the team. Jackson and Michael Jordan were adamantly opposed to the idea, but Jackson allowed Rodman a few days away from the squad to recoup for the stretch run.MORE: Best moments from Episodes 3 and 4 of ‘The Last Dance’As it turns out, 48 hours turned to a lot longer, and Rodman didn’t particularly care, going MIA from the team and ending up in Sin City for an extended stay. And he was in Sin City alongside Carmen Electra, one of America’s most famous models.”It was on, the party started right away,” Electra said. With Rodman gallivanting through Las Vegas — and Vegas hotel rooms — with Electra … well, use your imagination. “One thing about Dennis — he had to escape,” Electra said. “He liked to go out. He liked to go to clubs. We’d go to his favorite restaurant, then we’d go to a night club, then we’d go to after hours — it didn’t stop. … It was definitely an occupational hazard to be Dennis’ girlfriend.”The respite, though, soon got out of hand. Electra admitted that she had no idea what the Bulls’ schedule was — so that 48-hour bender from Rodman turned out to be days, until Jordan showed up to break up the party. Electra, naked on the floor, fled from the scene ASAP.”There’s a knock on the door — it’s Michael Jordan,” Electra said. “And — I hid. I didn’t want to see him like that. So I’m just like, hiding behind the couch, with covers over me.””We had to go get his ass out of bed,” Jordan said. “I’m not gonna say what’s in his bed, or where he was, blah blah blah.”MORE: Three things we learned from Night 2 of ‘The Last Dance’But some of the more raunchy details of the Rodman-Electra relationship were glossed over in “The Last Dance.” In an interview with the Los Angeles Times (subscription required), Electra detailed sex, sex and more sex with Rodman, in much less … comfortable places than a Vegas hotel room.“One day when the Bulls had an off day from practicing, Dennis said he had a surprise for me,” she said. “He blindfolds me and we get on his motorcycle. When he finally takes my blindfold off, we’re standing at the Bulls practice facility, center court.”It was crazy, like two kids in a candy store. We were eating Popsicles from the fridge and pretty much having sex all over the damn place — in the physical therapy room, in the weight room. Obviously on the court.” If nothing else, Dennis Rodman certainly lived up to his last name.Rodman, one of the NBA’s most vivacious and exotic players, was the focus on Episode 4 of ESPN’s “The Last Dance,” which chronicles the Jordan-era Bulls. And all of Rodman was on display: his work ethic, his personality and, most importantly, his sex life. Well, obviously. Rodman’s ’90s relationships were widely and famously documented, as he split time with Electra, Vivica A. Fox, Madonna and Toni Braxton during the decade.Nice to see Rodman get a head start on American Pharaoh.
