SHAY GIVEN NAMED TO START FOR IRELAND IN CRUCIAL EURO 2016 QUALIFIER WITH POLAND

first_imgShay Given has been brought back into the Ireland XI for tonight’s crucial Euro 2016 clash with Poland.Shay Given has been reinstated into the Republic of Ireland starting XI ahead of their crucial Euro 2016 qualifier at the Aviva Stadium tonight.Given hasn’t played a competitive match for Ireland since their 2-0 defeat to Italy during the 2012 European Championships.Given announced his retirement after Euro 2012 but eighteen months later announced he would he was available for selection again. Martin O’Neil drafted the goalkeeping legend back into his squad but he played second fiddle to David Forde.Forde has done really well and the decision to bring Given back into the fold has come as a surprise.However, Given is one of the best goalkeepers to ever play in the Premier League and has had a remarkable international career.Tonight’s clash with Poland is a huge game and O’Neil has called on Given’s experience for the game.
