BEAUTIFUL MUSIC IN THE STUNNING SURROUNDINGS OF GLENVEAGH

first_imgThe Donegal hills will come alive with the sound of music as part of the 2nd Donegal Chamber Music Festival which opens next week.Featuring a family concert, music and poetry, a choral concert, classical music and Irish Gaelic songs, it is an unmissable event.Featured artists include Donegal Chamber Orchestra, Amy Gillen (flute), Szabó Yélamo String Duo, DMEP`s Junior & Intermediate String Orchestras, Denise Blake (poet), Dominic Mac Giolla Bhride ,Donegal Camerata, The Conwal Singers, and the music of composer Derek Ball. This festival is held in association with Donegal Music Education Partnership (Donegal ETB), the Regional Cultural Centre & The Glebe Gallery.A beautiful programme of music has been planned for the event.Donegal Chamber Orchestra with guest soloist Amy Gillen will open the Festival with a concert at Glenveagh National Park on Friday May 29thThe Orchestra features classical string players from across the county and is dedicated to helping students and amateur musicians achieve the highest level of excellence in performance. The Orchestra was founded in 2006 by Hungarian violinist Orsolya Szabó-Yélamo (Violin resource tutor with Donegal Music Education Partnership) and Spanish cellist Víctor Yélamo (Artistic Director of the ensemble).Amy Gillen (18) from Laghy won the Senior Flute Competition at the ESB Feis Ceoil in 2014.The Family Concert is on Saturday May 30th at the Glebe Gallery, Churchill.Music and Poetry with the Donegal Camerata String Quintet and poet Denise Blake takes place on Sunday 31st May in the Drawing Room at Glenveagh Castle.Acclaimed Gaoth Dobhair seán-nós singer and composer Dominic Mac Giolla Bhríde will perform alongside members of Donegal Camerata – expect a spell-binding evening at Glenveagh.Also part of the Festival is a Choral Concert with the The Conwal Singers conducted by Karen Patton.This four-part chamber choir based in Letterkenny will form “Songs for A Summer Evening’ on June 6th in the Drawing Room, Glenveagh Castle.THE 2nd Donegal Chamber Music Festival at Glenveagh National Park runs from Friday May 29th – Sunday June 7th.
