Saina Nehwal loses in the final of French Open Super Series

first_imgSaina Nehwal’s winning run finally came to an end with the World no. 3 Indian going down 19-21, 11-21 in the final of the French Open Super Series on Sunday.Saina, who was the top seed at the event, lost to Minatsu Mitani of Japan. The Indian ace looked out of sorts right from the beginning but still managed to stay in the hunt in the first game, going neck-to-neck before the 26th ranked Japanese eventually clinched the game.In the second, Saina’s opponent hardly gave her any chance to bounce back and moved swiftly on the court with some free flowing drop shots.Earlier, Saina had defeated Juliane Schenk of Germany 21-19, 21-8 in the semifinals. Saina came into the French Open riding on a title win at the Denmark Open last week.last_img
